It all began with the vines, the sun, the earth, the water
and the countryside of the Penedès region of Catalonia.
Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is the capital of Cava wine
and it was here that the Rosell and Formosa families joined
forces in 1948 to create a fine cava from the produce of local
vineyards.
Half a century on, we still follow that family tradition, combining
tradition and technology in a constant search to improve our
product even further.
Rosell & Formosa is a cava of prestige, elegance and quality.
We work with the best wine suppliers in the Penedès region,
from whom we choose the most suitable
coupage.
This wine holds the key to the character of the future Rosell
& Formosa cava.
Once we have selected the coupage from amongst the traditional
Penedès varieties of grape (macabeo, xarel·lo
and parellada), we add the yeast and a small quantity of sugar
to aid the secondary fermentation process.
The wine is now crystal clear an excellent cava.The bottle is
definitively sealed-using only real cork-and muzzled with a
wire cage to prevent any of the cava’s characteristic
foam being lost.
